A very close game took place in Salvador between Universo/Vitoria and Pinheiros. Ninth ranked Universo/Vitoria (8-8) got a very close home victory over 6th ranked Pinheiros (9-7). Universo/Vitoria managed to escape with a 3-point win 79-76 on Thursday evening. Universo/Vitoria made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Pinheiros turnovers. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was point guard Nick Okorie (185-88, college: Texas Tech) who scored 17 points and 5 assists. Point guard Kenny Dawkins (175-87, college: Lamar) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. Four Universo/Vitoria players scored in double figures. Center Chris Ware (203-89, college: Indiana Tech) produced 18 points and 7 rebounds and guard Desmond Holloway (191-90, college: Co.Carolina) added 19 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Universo/Vitoria moved-up to eighth place. Pinheiros lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with seven games lost.
