Very important is a road loss of second ranked Haukar (10-4) against ninth ranked Thor Thorl (5-9) on Thursday night. Visiting Haukar was defeated by Thor Thorl in a tough game in Thorlakshofn 85-93. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Haukar. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 52-42 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Haukar outrebounded Thor Thorl 44-28 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. International Emil Einarsson (196-94) scored 28 points to lead the charge for the winners and American guard DJ Balentine (191-93, college: Evansville, agency: Inception Sports) chipped in 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. American forward Paul Jones (198-89, college: W.Washington) responded with 24 points and 8 rebounds and center Breki Gylfason (204-97) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Thor Thorl maintains ninth position with 5-9 record, which they share with Valur. Loser Haukar keeps the second place with four games lost. They share the position with KR and Tindastoll. Thor Thorl will meet higher ranked Stjarnan (#7) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Haukar will play against Keflavik (#8) and hope to secure a win.
