There was no surprise in Jinjiang where 14th ranked Sturgeons (12-16) were defeated by seventh ranked Beijing Ducks (18-10) 103-98 on Thursday. Strangely Sturgeons outrebounded Beijing Ducks 44-30 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Sturgeons' players. Worth to mention a great performance of Croatian-American center Justin Hamilton (213-90, college: LSU) who helped to win the game recording 42 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eighteen shots !!!) and the former international forward Xiaochuan Zhai (205-93) who added 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side American point guard Russ Smith (183-91, college: Louisville) responded with 26 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and international Zhelin Wang (214-94) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 16 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Beijing Ducks moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Shenzhen L. Loser Sturgeons keep the fourteenth position with 16 games lost. Beijing Ducks will face Golden Bulls (#8) in Hangzhou in the next round. Sturgeons will play on the road against Sharks (#11) in Shanghai and hope to win that game.
