The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Uppsala Basket won third quarter 17-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The winners were led by American point guard Eric Gilchrese (183-87, college: New Hampshire) who scored that evening 21 points and 4 assists and the other American import guard Arik Smith (185-93, college: Cal Lutheran) supported him with 21 points. Gilchrese is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even 20 points and 5 assists by swingman Axel Nordstrom (193-91, agency: Dynamics Global Management) did not help to save the game for Uppsala Basket. The former international Viktor Gaddefors (201-92) added 14 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for lost side. Four Uppsala Basket players scored in double figures. Umea moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Uppsala. Umea will play against higher ranked Boras Basket (#4) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Uppsala Basket will play against the league's leader BC Lulea and hopes to get back on the winning track.
