Regular Season Round 19: Palencia - Castello 70-73

A very interesting game took place in Palencia. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 11th ranked Palencia Baloncesto (8-11) to seventh ranked Castello (11-9) 73-70 on Friday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-22. But Palencia Baloncesto won second period 20-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Castello won last quarter 17-16. They made 22-of-27 charity shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Castello outrebounded Palencia Baloncesto 44-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Jason Cain (208-85, college: Virginia, agency: Dutt Sports Services) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). Trinidad and Tobago center Kyle Rowley (213-90, college: St.Mary's, CA) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Urko Otegui (203-81) answered with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Sergi Pino (197-87, agency: Interperformances) added 7 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Palencia Baloncesto. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Castello moved-up to sixth place. Palencia Baloncesto lost third consecutive game. Palencia Baloncesto at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with 11 games lost. Castello's next round opponent will be higher ranked La ICL Manresa (#5) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Palencia Baloncesto will play against Araberri (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
