Regular Season Round 17: Killester - Belfast Star 89-58

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Killester (11-4) crushed 7th ranked Belfast Star (7-9) in Dublin 89-58. Killester dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Belfast Star's 30. They outrebounded Belfast Star 55-37 including a 38-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Killester players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Belfast Star's players. The best player for the winners was Spanish center Luis Garcia-hoyos (203-93) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. American guard Royce Williams (196, college: Ft.Hays State) chipped in 21 points and 6 rebounds. The former international guard Aidan Quinn (185-95, college: Mayville St.) produced 15 points and 9 rebounds and American forward Deangelo Legrier (201, college: W.Florida) added 10 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Killester. They maintain third place with 11-4 record behind leader UCD Marian. Belfast Star at the other side dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. Killester's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Tralee on the road and it will be for sure the game of the week. Belfast Star will play against Eanna (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
