We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Alicante where 8th ranked Unicaja-Andalucia (6-7) was edged by ninth ranked Multiopticas Baza (2-11) 84-83 on Saturday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Multiopticas Baza outrebounded Unicaja-Andalucia 40-29 including 26 on the defensive glass. Unicaja-Andalucia was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was center Jorge Rodriguez (198-94) who scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. Alberto Perez chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Power forward Ignacio Rosa (206-99) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and forward Jose-Luis Ibanez (197-0) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Multiopticas Baza maintains ninth position in Group D-A with 2-11 record. Loser Unicaja-Andalucia keeps the eighth place with seven games lost. Multiopticas Baza will face higher ranked Novaschool (#7) in Malaga in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
