Regular Season Round 21: Nagoya DD - Niigata Albirex 81-78

A very close game took place in Nagoya between Diamond Dolphins and Niigata Albirex. Fourth ranked Diamond Dolphins (12-18) got a very close home victory over 5th ranked Niigata Albirex (11-19). Diamond Dolphins managed to escape with a 3-point win 81-78 on Saturday evening. Diamond Dolphins made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) who scored 27 points. Guard Takaya Sasayama (178-93) chipped in 15 points and 6 assists. Diamond Dolphins' coach used entire bench in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) who recorded a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and the other American import power forward Lamont Hamilton (208-84, college: St.John's) added 10 points respectively. Diamond Dolphins maintains fourth place with 12-18 record. Niigata Albirex lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the third position with 19 games lost. They share it with Shiga L-Stars. Diamond Dolphins will meet Yokohama BC (#6) on the road in the next round. Niigata Albirex will play against the league's leader Aishin Sea Horses and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
