There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Almeria (4-11) smashed at home higher ranked Magec Tias (7-8) 76-55 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 76-55. The best player for the winners was point guard Isabel Latorre (169-96) who scored 19 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Power forward Alicia Gonzalez (187-86) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Four Almeria players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Keira Robinson (173, college: VCU) who recorded 18 points and 5 rebounds and Argentinian power forward Ornella Santana (183-90) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Almeria moved-up to eleventh place in Group B. Magec Tias at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. Almeria will face higher ranked Real Canoe (#4) in Madrid in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
