Regular Season Round 23: Gorizont II - Gorizont 43-110

Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Minsk: Gorizont (#3) and Gorizont II (#7). Gorizont II was crushed at home by 67 points 43-110 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The game without a history. Gorizont led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Gorizont II's 24 and made 33-of-41 charity shots (80.5 percent) during the game, while Gorizont II only scored thirteen points from the stripe. They also forced 40 Gorizont II turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Gorizont II's players. Gorizont II was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international guard Natallia Anufryienka (174-85) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points, 8 assists and 4 steals. Forward Natallia Harbachova (178-99) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Five Gorizont players scored in double figures. Forward Irina Durmanova (172-1) answered with 11 points and 4 steals and guard Aleksandra Ratnikova (166-0) added 8 points in the effort for Gorizont II. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Gorizont. They maintain third place with 12-5 record having five points less than leader Olimpia. Gorizont II at the other side stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. They will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Gorizont II's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face again at home their local rival from Minsk Gorizont.
