Regular Season Round 15: Lima-Horta - Cortegada 59-66

Very expected game in Barcelona where 9th ranked Lima-Horta (7-8) was defeated by fifth ranked Cortegada (10-5) 66-59 on Saturday. Lima-Horta trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 15 after three quarters before a 21-13 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 59-66 at the end of the game. It was a great shooting night for Cortegada especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. The best player for the winners was guard Sara Gomez (172-86, agency: ProDep Management) who scored 23 points and 4 steals. Power forward Andrea Rios (187-91) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was forward Ana Alonso (187-90) who recorded 18 points and 5 rebounds and Andrea Garcia added 8 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Lima-Horta's coach Isaac Fernandez tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Cortegada maintains fifth place in Group A with 10-5 record. Loser Lima-Horta dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. Cortegada will face higher ranked GDKO Bizkaia (#4) in Galdakao in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lima-Horta will play on the road against Ascensores Tresa (#11) in Gijon and hope to win that game.
