SM-sarja top team - Catz Lappeenranta (16-1) added another victory to their record. This time they beat seventh ranked Kouvottaret (7-10) in Kouvola 77-70. The guests were ahead by 1 point but lost the second period ending it with a 1-point deficit before their 19-11 run, which allowed them to win the game. American players dominated the game. Point guard Valencia McFarland (163-91, college: Mississippi) stepped up and scored 23 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and forward Aleighsa Welch (183-93, college: S.Carolina, agency: Two Points) chipped in 15 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. Forward Layne Murphy (188, college: Chicago St.) responded with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Brittany Carter (183-93, college: Illinois) scored 8 points and 9 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Catz Lappeenranta have an impressive series of sixteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 16-1 record. Kouvottaret at the other side dropped to the sixth position with ten games lost. They share it with Espoo Team. Catz Lappeenranta will play against ViVe (#4) in Vimpeli in the next round. Kouvottaret will play on the road against HyPo in Hyvinkaa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
