Very expected game in Kariya where 6th ranked Nishinomiya S. (7-23) was crushed by first ranked Aishin Sea Horses (23-7) 86-65 on Saturday. Aishin Sea Horses outrebounded Nishinomiya S. 51-29 including a 42-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Nishinomiya S. was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Americans were the main players on the court. Forward Daniel Orton (208-90, college: Kentucky) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and center Isaac Butts (208-89, college: Appalachian St.) chipped in 14 points and 13 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Aishin Sea Horses players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Draelon Burns (194-85, college: De Paul) with 11 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Cameron Ridley (206-93, college: Texas) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Aishin Sea Horses maintains first place with 23-7 record. Newly promoted Nishinomiya S. dropped to the fifth position with 23 games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will face Niigata Albirex (#5) on the road in the next round. Nishinomiya S. will play against the league's leader Ryukyu GK and hope to win that game.
