There was no surprise in Mexico where 10th ranked Panteras (7-19) were defeated by third ranked Capitanes (20-9) 87-80 on Saturday. Capitanes looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international Hector Hernandez (205-85, college: Fresno St., agency: BeoBasket) fired a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. The former international point guard Pedro Meza (186-85, college: Arizona W. CC, agency: Pro Sports) chipped in 13 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. The former international swingman Jorge-Alfredo Casillas (196-90) produced 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and American power forward Christophe Massie (206-77, college: Memphis) added 16 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side. Four Panteras players scored in double figures. Panteras' coach Ronald Guillen rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Capitanes have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Panteras at the other side keep the tenth position with 19 games lost. Capitanes are again looking forward to face Panteras (#10) in Aguascalientes in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Panteras will have a break next round.
