There was no surprise when 6th ranked Alcobendas (9-6) was defeated on the road by third ranked Valencia (11-3) 74-62 on Saturday. The game without a history. Valencia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Valencia forced 19 Alcobendas turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Portuguese guard Maria Correia (173-91, agency: ProDep Management) who scored 15 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Mali power forward Meiya Tirera (186-86, agency: ProDep Management) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. Valencia's coach Ruben Burgos used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was center Aitana Cuevas (189-86) who recorded 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Lucia Togores (176-96, agency: ProDep Management) added 9 points and 7 rebounds respectively. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Valencia. They moved-up to second place in Group B. Loser Alcobendas keeps the sixth position with six games lost. Valencia will face Olimpico 64 (#14) in Madrid in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Alcobendas will play at home against Leganes (#3) and hope to win that game.
