Regular Season Round 17: Boulazac - Cholet 67-91

Everything went according to plan when ninth ranked Cholet Basket (9-8) outscored on the road 17th ranked Boulazac Basket (5-12) 91-67. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Cholet Basket's pressure prevailed and they won that period 31-14 extending their advantage to 24 points. It was a great shooting night for Cholet Basket especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. Center Jerry Boutsiele (207-92) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 7 rebounds. Icelandic Haukur Palsson (197-92, college: Maryland) contributed with 11 points and 5 assists for the winners. Five Cholet Basket players scored in double figures. American guard Trenton Meacham (190-85, college: Illinois) answered with 14 points and the other American import swingman Quincy Diggs (198-90, college: Akron, agency: Mansfield and Associates) added 8 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Boulazac Basket. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Cholet Basket have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with ASVEL. Boulazac Basket lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the seventeenth position with 12 games lost. Cholet Basket's next round opponent will be ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (#7) at home. Boulazac Basket will play against Chalons-Reims (#13) and hope to win that game.
