Regular Season Round 15: Rapla - Tartu Ulikool 73-89

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Rapla (10-7) against fourth ranked Tartu Ulikool (10-5) on Saturday night. Host Rapla was defeated by Tartu Ulikool in Rapla 89-73. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Rapla. The game was mostly controlled by Tartu Ulikool. Rapla managed to win second period 23-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Rapla 42-28 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for Lithuanian forward Julius Kazakauskas (196-90) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Lithuanian Vytenis Cizauskas (187-92) accounted for 14 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side. American forward Devonte Upson (206-93, college: SE Louisiana) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import guard Nolan Cressler (195-94, college: Vanderbilt, agency: 3Eye) added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Rapla in the defeat. Five Tartu Ulikool and four Rapla players scored in double figures. Rapla's coach Aivar Kuusmaa rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Tartu Ulikool. They moved-up to second place. Loser Rapla dropped to the fourth position with seven games lost. Tartu Ulikool will meet at home TTU (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Rapla will play against the league's leader Kalev/Cramo and hope to secure a win.
