Regular Season Round 30: Sendai 89ers - Yamagata 66-91

B League D2 round 30 most important game was a victory of Yamagata over one of their biggest challengers Sendai 89ers 91-66 on Saturday night. Yamagata made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Yamagata outrebounded Sendai 89ers 42-31 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a good game for American center Will Creekmore (205-89, college: Missouri St.) who led his team to a victory with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. The other American import forward Billy McShepard (208-87, college: Valdosta St., agency: Blacktop Management) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Yamagata's coach Joe Cook felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center Marcus Cousin (211-86, college: Houston) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and South Sudanese-American forward Angelo Chol (206-93, college: San Diego St., agency: Two Points) added 12 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Sendai 89ers. Yamagata maintains third position with 14-15 record having just three points less than leader Akita NH. Sendai 89ers at the other side keep the fourth place with 16 games lost. They share the position with Kagawa FA. Yamagata will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sendai 89ers will play again at home against Yamagata (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
