Rather predictable result when second ranked Chiba Jets (21-9) defeated at home 6th ranked Yokohama BC (8-22) 95-79 on Saturday. They outrebounded Yokohama BC 42-29 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Chiba Jets looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) chipped in 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was Tanzanian center Hasheem Thabeet (218-87, college: Connecticut) with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and American forward Jeffrey Parmer (203-85, college: Florida Atlantic) scored 10 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Chiba Jets and four Yokohama BC players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Chiba Jets maintains second place with 21-9 record having just three points less than leader Ryukyu GK. Loser Yokohama BC dropped to the fourth position with 22 games lost. Chiba Jets will face Toshiba Thunders (#3) in Kanagawa in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Yokohama BC will play at home against Diamond Dolphins and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
