No shocking result in a game in Zagreb where second ranked ZKK Medvescak (10-1) smashed 6th ranked ZKK Split (6-6) 75-56 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by ZKK Medvescak. ZKK Split managed to win second period 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding ZKK Split to just 4 points in third quarter. ZKK Medvescak forced 23 ZKK Split turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international guard Iva Borovic (170-88) stepped up and scored 30 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners and international center Patricija Bura (188-96) chipped in 11 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side forward Marijana Mamic (186-93) responded with 6 points and 10 rebounds and forward Anamaria Skaro (180-94, college: Stony Brook) scored 16 points. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for ZKK Medvescak. Defending champion maintains second place with 10-1 record having just three points less than leader Tresnjevka. Loser ZKK Split keeps the sixth position with six games lost. ZKK Medvescak will meet Ragusa (#4) in the next round. ZKK Split will play against the league's leader Tresnjevka and hope to secure a win.
