Regular Season Round 23: Tsmoki-Minsk - COR Victoria 88-55

There was no surprise when 5th ranked BrGU COR Victoria (3-14) was crushed on the road by second ranked Tsmoki-Minsk (13-2) 88-55. The game was mostly controlled by Tsmoki-Minsk. BrGU COR Victoria was better in third quarter 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding BrGU COR Victoria to just 6 points in first quarter. Tsmoki-Minsk dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to BrGU COR Victoria's 26. Tsmoki-Minsk forced 20 BrGU COR Victoria turnovers and outrebounded them 54-33 including a 36-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Tsmoki-Minsk players were unselfish on offense dishing 34 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by BrGU COR Victoria's players. The former international center Viktoryia Hasper (192-88) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Iryna Venskaya (165-2) contributed with 16 points and 8 assists for the winners. Four Tsmoki-Minsk players scored in double figures. Forward Maria Rafalovich (164-1) answered with 12 points and forward Anastasia Babak (177-2) added 7 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for BrGU COR Victoria. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Tsmoki-Minsk. Defending champion maintains second place with 13-2 record having six points less than leader Olimpia. BrGU COR Victoria at the other side keeps the fifth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Victoria. Tsmoki-Minsk will again play against BrGU COR Victoria (#6) in Brest in the next round. BrGU COR Victoria will have a break next round.
