Regular Season Round 16: MIA-RO Cantu - Banco di Srd 102-96

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both seventh ranked MIA-RO Cantu and 9th ranked Banco di Srd had identical 8-7 record. This time MIA-RO Cantu used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Sassari 102-96 on Saturday night. MIA-RO Cantu looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Banco di Srd was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Jeremy Chappell (191-87, college: Robert Morris) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import point guard Jaime Smith (190-89, college: Al.-Huntsville) who added 23 points and 6 assists during the contest. MIA-RO Cantu's coach Marco Sodini used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Canadian forward Dyshawn Pierre (198-93, college: Dayton) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and international forward Achille Polonara (203-91) scored 14 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Five MIA-RO Cantu and four Banco di Srd players scored in double figures. MIA-RO Cantu have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Virtus Bologna. Loser Banco di Srd dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. MIA-RO Cantu will face Vanoli Cremona (#8) on the road in the next round. Banco di Srd will play against Fiat TO and hope to win that game.
