Regular Season Round 21: Toyama Grouses - Shimane SM 83-78

There was no surprise when 5th ranked Shimane Magic (7-23) was defeated on the road by second ranked Toyama Grouses (15-15) 83-78 on Saturday. Toyama Grouses looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. International forward Naoki Uto (188-91) stepped up and scored 19 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and American center Dexter Pittman (208-88, college: Texas, agency: Inception Sports) chipped in 24 points and 5 rebounds. Four Toyama Grouses players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Josh Scott (208-93, college: Colorado, agency: Pensack Sports) with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds and the other American import Tyler Stone (203-91, college: SE Missouri St., agency: Diamond Sports) scored 12 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Toyama Grouses. They maintain second place with 15-15 record having nine points less than leader Ryukyu GK, which they share with Tochigi Brex. Shimane Magic lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the fifth position with 23 games lost. Toyama Grouses will face San-en NeoPhoenix (#3) in Hamamatsu in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Shimane Magic will play at home against Osaka Evessa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
