Very expected game in Gwynneville where 6th ranked Illawarra Hawks (9-12) were crushed by second ranked Adelaide 36ers (15-8) 112-93 on Sunday. It was a great shooting night for Adelaide 36ers especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Illawarra Hawks were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American guard Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). International swingman Mitch Creek (195-92) helped adding 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Adelaide 36ers players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Adelaide 36ers. They keep a position of league leader. Loser Illawarra Hawks keep the sixth place with 12 games lost. Adelaide 36ers will face Bullets (#7) in Brisbane in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
