Regular Season Round 17: Snaefell - Gnupverjar 79-83

There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Gnupverjar (5-10) beat 5th ranked Snaefell (9-6) in Stykkisholmur 83-79. Snaefell was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 22-16 third quarter run of Gnupverjar. They dominated down low during the game scoring 134 of its points in the paint compared to Snaefell's 104 and made 107-of-115 charity shots (93.0 percent) during the game, while Snaefell only scored 71 points from the stripe. Gnupverjar forced 21 Snaefell turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 41 assists. 53 personal fouls committed by Snaefell helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American guard Everage Richardson (191-85, college: Co.Carolina) who had a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Gabriel Moller (182-99) chipped in 23 points and 9 rebounds. American guard Christian Covile (193-93, college: Adrian) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and forward Thorbergur Saethorsson (195-93) added 14 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Snaefell players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Gnupverjar maintains seventh place with 5-10 record. Snaefell at the other side keeps the fifth position with six games lost. Gnupverjar's next round opponent will be higher ranked Hamar (#4) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Snaefell will play against Breidablik in Kopavogur and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
