The game in Malaga was also worth to mention about. 6th ranked Gran Canaria (9-8) played at the court of seventh ranked Unicaja Malaga (10-7). Unicaja Malaga managed to secure a 7-point victory 94-87. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Gran Canaria won fourth quarter 21-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Unicaja Malaga players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Georgian center Giorgi Shermadini (217-89) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Serbian point guard Nemanja Nedovic (191-91, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 assists for the winners. Unicaja Malaga's coach Joan Plaza allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international Pablo Aguilar (202-89) answered with 13 points and 8 rebounds and Czech center Ondrej Balvin (217-92, agency: Octagon Europe) added 14 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) in the effort for Gran Canaria. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Unicaja Malaga. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Baskonia and Iberostar Tener. Gran Canaria at the other side dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. Unicaja Malaga's next round opponent will be Burgos (#14) on the road and are hoping to win another game. Gran Canaria will play against Zaragoza (#16) and hope to win that game.
