Regular Season Round 31: Toyotsu FE - Fukushima 84-82

The most exciting game of round 31 in the B League D2 took place in Nagoya. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of their biggest opponent Fukushima (17-12) to first ranked Toyotsu FE (18-12) 84-82 in the game for the first place. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Toyotsu FE dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Fukushima's 26. They outrebounded Fukushima 41-29 including 31 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American center Garrett Stutz (214-90, college: Wichita St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 18 rebounds. Guard Kei Sugimoto (182-92) helped adding 8 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side American center Jarred Shaw (208-90, college: Utah St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Kenya Tomori (177-84) scored 19 points. Four Fukushima players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Toyotsu FE maintains first place with 18-12 record, which they share with Ehime OV. Fukushima at the other side keeps the second position with 12 games lost. They share it with Gunma. Toyotsu FE is looking forward to face Aomori Watts (#5) on the road in the next round. Fukushima will play against the league's leader Fukuoka Rizing and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
