Important game to mention about took place in Dongguan. Fifth ranked Golden Stars (20-9) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 4th placed Guandong Tigers (20-9) 113-110 in the game for the third place. Guandong Tigers were plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. American point guard Ty Lawson (180-87, college: N.Carolina) orchestrated the victory by scoring 32 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Lithuanian power forward Donatas Motiejunas (213-90) contributed with 27 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. The former international Jianlian Yi (212-87) answered with a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds (was perfect 14-for-14 from the free throw line !!!) and the former international forward Peng Zhou (210-89) added 20 points and 6 assists in the effort for Guandong Tigers. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Golden Stars moved-up to third place, which they share with Guangdong ST and Jiangsu D. Golden Stars will play against Blue Whales (#18) in Sichuan in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Guandong Tigers will play at home against Eagles (#16) and hope to get back on the winning track.
