Regular Season Round 20: Menorca - Mataro Parc Boet 72-65

Rather expected game in Mahon where 7th ranked Mataro Parc Boet (7-7) was defeated by fourth ranked Menorca (9-5) 72-65 on Sunday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 22-13. But Mataro Parc Boet won second period 19-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Menorca dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Mataro Parc Boet's 18. They outrebounded Mataro Parc Boet 48-25 including a 20-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was center Jan Orfila (207-84, agency: Athleadz) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. Forward Gabriel Torres (198-89) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. Menorca's coach Oriol Pages allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Jesus Corella produced 25 points and American forward Faronte Drakeford (201-92, college: Cent.Conn.St.) added 19 points (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) respectively for the guests. Menorca moved-up to third place in Group C-A. Newly promoted Mataro Parc Boet keeps the seventh position with seven games lost. Menorca will face Sant Adria (#7) on the road in the next round. Mataro Parc Boet will play against Cantaires Tortosa and hope to win that game.
