Regular Season Round 18: Sestu - Scauri 77-78

Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Sestu (7-11) was edged at home by eighth ranked Scauri (9-9) 78-77 on Sunday. Scauri made 19-of-20 free shots (95.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Andrea Longobardi (199-94) who scored 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!). Forward Davide Serino (199-81) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Scauri players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international Manuel Vanuzzo (203-75) who recorded 17 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Andrea Pompianu (186-99, agency: SPORTlab Agency) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Sestu's coach Giuseppe Caboni rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Scauri moved-up to seventh place in B, which they share with Padova. Newly promoted Sestu keeps the tenth position with 11 games lost. Scauri will face league's second-placed Basket Barcellona at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Sestu will play against Venafro (#14) and hope to win that game.
