The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Doha: Al Gharafa (#1) and Al Arabi (#2). Al Arabi was crushed at home by 52 points 44-96 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Al Gharafa forced 19 Al Arabi turnovers. The best player for the winners was international forward Sammy Monroe (198-85, college: Newberry) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. International swingman Abdulrahman Saad (185-96) chipped in 17 points and 5 assists. Monroe is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Al Gharafa players scored in double figures. Senegalese center Oumar Seck (208-88) produced 8 points and 17 rebounds and American swingman William Byrd (201-85, college: Ark.-Pine Bluff) added 11 points and 12 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Al Gharafa maintains first place with 13-2 record. Al Arabi at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. Al Gharafa's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Qatar Sports Club.
