Regular Season Round 31: Sendai 89ers - Yamagata 70-84

The game between Top Four teams took place in Sendai. 4th placed host Sendai 89ers (13-17) lost to third ranked Yamagata (15-15) 84-70. Yamagata players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Billy McShepard (208-87, college: Valdosta St., agency: Blacktop Management) who led the winners and scored 29 points and 7 rebounds. His fellow American import center Will Creekmore (205-89, college: Missouri St.) accounted for 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. South Sudanese-American forward Angelo Chol (206-93, college: San Diego St., agency: Two Points) came up with 17 points and 6 rebounds and guard Kaito Ishikawa (188-90) added 11 points and 4 assists respectively for Sendai 89ers in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Yamagata maintains third place with 15-15 record having just three points less than leader Akita NH. Sendai 89ers lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with 17 games lost. Yamagata will play against Cyberdyne IR (#4) in Tsukuba in the next round. Sendai 89ers will play at home against the league's leader Akita Happinets and hope to get back on the winning track.
