Regular Season Round 21: Chiba Jets - Yokohama BC 114-78

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Yokohama BC (8-22) was outplayed on the road by second ranked Chiba Jets (21-9) 114-78 on Sunday. Chiba Jets outrebounded Yokohama BC 41-24 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 55.6 percentage. Chiba Jets looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Yokohama BC's players. International power forward Ryumo Ono (197-88) stepped up and scored 25 points for the winners and naturalized American guard Aki Chambers (190-90, college: Cal Merced) chipped in 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Chiba Jets players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) with 16 points and American forward William McDonald (206-79, college: Grambling St.) scored 10 points and 9 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Chiba Jets maintains second place with 21-9 record having just three points less than leader Ryukyu GK. Loser Yokohama BC dropped to the fourth position with 22 games lost. Chiba Jets will face Toshiba Thunders (#3) in Kanagawa in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Yokohama BC will play at home against Diamond Dolphins and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
