Regular Season Round 17: PeKa - Huima 85-76

Date: January 21, 2018
No shocking result in a game when third ranked Peli-Karhut (12-5) beat bottom-ranked Aanekosken (1-16) in Kotka 85-76 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Aanekosken won third quarter 28-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Peli-Karhut won last quarter 31-24. They also forced 19 Aanekosken turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American players dominated also this game. Guard Daisha Simmons (178-91, college: Seton Hall, agency: Gamble Sports Management) nailed a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side and forward Megan Mullings (185-92, college: Alaska-Anch.) accounted for 15 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Center Kenya Robinson (183-70, college: New Orleans) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and forward Tyler Gilbert (185-94, college: Houston) added 17 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Aanekosken in the defeat. Four Peli-Karhut and five Aanekosken players scored in double figures. Aanekosken's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Peli-Karhut. They maintain third place with 12-5 record having four points less than leader Catz. Aanekosken lost their thirteenth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Peli-Karhut will meet Espoo Team (#6) on the road in the next round. Aanekosken will play against Forssan Alku (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
