Regular Season Round 17: Joventut - UCAM Murcia 62-71

Very expected game in Badalona where 17th ranked Joventut (4-12) was defeated by ninth ranked UCAM Murcia (9-8) 71-62 on Sunday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-12. But Joventut won second period 18-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. UCAM Murcia made 19-of-20 free shots (95.0 percent) during the game. American-Senegalese point guard Clevin Hannah (179-87, college: Wichita St.) stepped up and scored 23 points and 5 assists for the winners and British Ovie Soko (201-91, college: Duquesne) chipped in 15 points and 11 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). FYR Macedonian point guard Nenad Dimitrijevic (187-98) responded with 14 points and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and Jamaican center Jerome Jordan (215-86, college: Tulsa) scored 9 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. UCAM Murcia moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Gran Canaria. Joventut lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the seventeenth position with 12 games lost. UCAM Murcia will face higher ranked CB Canarias (#5) in Tenerife in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Joventut will play on the road against FC Barcelona (#3) and hope to win that game.
