Regular Season Round 21: Toyama Grouses - Shimane SM 77-71

Rather expected game when 5th ranked Shimane Magic (7-23) was defeated on the road by second ranked Toyama Grouses (15-15) 77-71 on Sunday. Toyama Grouses looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. International forward Naoki Uto (188-91) stepped up and scored 17 points and 9 assists for the winners and American center Dexter Pittman (208-88, college: Texas, agency: Inception Sports) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. Four Toyama Grouses players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Josh Scott (208-93, college: Colorado, agency: Pensack Sports) with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import Tyler Stone (203-91, college: SE Missouri St., agency: Diamond Sports) scored 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Toyama Grouses. They maintain second place with 15-15 record having nine points less than leader Ryukyu GK, which they share with Tochigi Brex. Shimane Magic lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the fifth position with 23 games lost. Toyama Grouses will face San-en NeoPhoenix (#3) in Hamamatsu in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Shimane Magic will play at home against Osaka Evessa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
