There was a surprise result in Carmen de Patagones where tenth ranked Atenas (9-9) outleveled higher ranked Gimnasia LP (9-10) 90-43 on Monday. Atenas dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Gimnasia LP's 30. Atenas forced 23 Gimnasia LP turnovers. Emiliano Agostino (191-84) fired 22 points for the winners. American forward Scott Cutley (196-85, college: CS Fullerton) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. Worth to mention Cutley played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. Power forward Lisandro Villa (198-87) produced 16 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Brandon Nazione (202-94, college: E.Michigan) added 9 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Atenas moved-up to fifth place in South. Gimnasia LP lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with ten games lost. Atenas will face Ciclista (#6) in Juninense in the next round. Gimnasia LP will play on the road against the league's second-placed Deportivo Viedma in Rio Negro and hope to win that game.
