A very interesting game took place in La Banda. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 15th ranked Olimpico de La Banda (4-8) to fifth ranked Obras Basket (8-5) 79-76 on Tuesday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Obras Basket made 16-of-19 charity shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Strangely Olimpico de La Banda outrebounded Obras Basket 44-29 including 29 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Point guard Fernando Zurbriggen (185-97) nailed 13 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side and American forward Maurice Kemp (203-91, college: E.Carolina, agency: Duran International) accounted for 25 points. Obras Basket's coach Carlos Romano allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Facundo Giorgi (204-85, college: FIU) came up with 21 points and 5 rebounds and American swingman Rodney Green (196-88, college: La Salle) added 17 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Olimpico de La Banda in the defeat. Obras Basket moved-up to fourth place. Olimpico de La Banda at the other side dropped to the sixteenth position with eight games lost. Obras Basket's next round opponent will be Salta Basket (#16) on the road which should be an easy win for them. Olimpico de La Banda will play against San Martin Corrientes and hope to win that game.
