Regular Season Round 30: Shandong GS - Sichuan BW 126-100

Everything went according to plan when third ranked Golden Stars (21-9) outplayed 18th ranked Blue Whales (6-24) in Jinan 126-100. Golden Stars dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Blue Whales' 54. Golden Stars forced 19 Blue Whales turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. The best player for the winners was Lithuanian power forward Donatas Motiejunas (213-90) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 14 rebounds. American point guard Ty Lawson (180-87, college: N.Carolina) chipped in a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Nigerian-American power forward Ikechukwu Diogu (204-83, college: Arizona St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds and Iranian center Hamed Haddadi (218-85) added 24 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Five Golden Stars and four Blue Whales players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Golden Stars maintains third position with 21-9 record having just three points less than leader Guangsha L., which they share with Guangdong ST and Jiangsu D. Blue Whales at the other side keep the eighteenth place with 24 games lost. Golden Stars' next round opponent will be Xinjiang Flying Tige (#7) in Urumqi. Blue Whales will play on the road against Eagles (#16) in Qingdao and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
