There was a small surprise in Rio de Janeiro where eleventh ranked Vasco Da G. (5-11) beat 9th ranked Minas (7-7) 70-54 on Tuesday. It was a great evening for American David Jackson (195-82, college: Penn St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 11 points and 8 rebounds. The former international Guilherme Giovannoni (203-80) helped adding 7 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was American guard Evan Roquemore (190-92, college: Santa Clara) with 7 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Wesley Ferreira (201-95) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. Minas' coach Espiga Soares rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Vasco Da G. maintains eleventh place with 5-11 record. Minas lost their third game in a row. They keep the ninth position with seven games lost. Vasco Da G. will meet Liga Sorocaba (#15) in the next round. Minas will play against Campo Mourao (#14) and hope to secure a win.
