Regular Season Round 16: Real Canoe - Valencia 58-66

Date: January 24, 2018
Not a big story in a game when 5th ranked Real Canoe (11-5) lost to second ranked Valencia (13-3) in Madrid 58-66 on Wednesday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Real Canoe won third quarter 16-8. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Valencia won last quarter 16-9. Quite impressive performance for Montenegrin guard Snezana Aleksic (173-89, agency: ProDep Management) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 8 rebounds. Mali power forward Meiya Tirera (186-86, agency: ProDep Management) contributed with 13 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Gema Garcia (165-85, agency: ProDep Management) replied with 10 points, 7 assists and 4 steals and power forward Veronica Matoso (185-88, agency: ProDep Management) added 10 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Real Canoe. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Valencia have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain second position in Group B with 13-3 record having just three points less than leader Gran Canaria. Newly promoted Real Canoe dropped to the fourth place with five games lost. Valencia will face Magec Tias (#8) in Las Palmas in the next round where they are favorite. Real Canoe will play at home against CVCD Granada (#9) and hope to win that game.
