Regular Season Round 15: KR - Valur 72-60

Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Reykjavik: KR (#2) and Valur (#10). KR (11-4) won against visiting Valur (5-10) 72-60. The game was mostly controlled by KR. Valur was better in third quarter 22-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. KR forced 26 Valur turnovers. It was a good game for American forward Brandon Penn (203-90, college: Rider, agency: Mansfield and Associates) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. International forward Kristofer Acox (198-93, college: Furman) contributed with 19 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American forward Urald King (198-90, college: SE Oklahoma) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 22 rebounds and Gunnar Hardarson (185-96, college: Belm.Abbey) added 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Valur. Four Valur players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains second place with 11-4 record behind leader IR, which they share with Haukar and Tindastoll. Newly promoted Valur keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. KR will face Thor AK (#11) in Akureyri in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Valur will play at home against Njardvik and hope to win that game.
