Regular Season Round 33: Santos - Capitanes 99-94

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Capitanes (20-10) against seventh ranked Santos (14-15) on Thursday night. Visiting Capitanes were defeated by Santos in a tough game in San Luis Potosi 94-99. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Capitanes. American guard LeRoy Hickerson (196-82, college: Cumberlands, agency: Pro Sports) nailed 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) for the winning side and the former international power forward Arim Solares (202-83) accounted for 14 points and 11 rebounds. The former international point guard Pedro Meza (186-85, college: Arizona W. CC, agency: Pro Sports) came up with 16 points and 7 assists and Dominican guard Rigoberto Mendoza (190-92) added 20 points respectively for Capitanes in the defeat. Four Santos and five Capitanes players scored in double figures. Santos moved-up to sixth place. Newly promoted Capitanes dropped to the third position with ten games lost. Santos will again play against higher ranked Capitanes (#3) in Mexico in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Capitanes will have a break next round.
