There was an upset when higher ranked Union SF (10-12) lost to fourteenth ranked Independiente (6-13) in Santiago del Estero 64-68 on Thursday. American power forward Willie Readus (201-92, college: Delta St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 9 rebounds. Alejandro Spalla (197-89) contributed with 22 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Haitian-American forward James Cambronne (201-91, college: St.Michael's) answered with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds and power forward Miguel Isola (197-83) added 17 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Union SF. Five Union SF players scored in double figures. Independiente maintains fourteenth place in North with 6-13 record. Union SF lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 12 games lost. Independiente will face higher ranked Barrio Parque (#12) in Cordoba in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
