Regular Season Round 22: Toshiba BT - Chiba Jets 87-80

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Kanagawa where their biggest opponent Chiba Jets (22-10) were defeated by third ranked Toshiba Thunders (20-12) 87-80 on Friday. Toshiba Thunders looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. The former international swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) chipped in 21 points and 6 assists. American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Leo Lyons (206-87, college: Missouri) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Chiba Jets players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toshiba Thunders maintains third position with 20-12 record having six points less than leader Ryukyu GK. Loser Chiba Jets keep the second place with ten games lost. Toshiba Thunders will face Shimane Magic (#6) on the road in the next round. Chiba Jets will play against Shiga L-Stars (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
