Regular Season Round 18: Breidablik - Snaefell 113-80
Date: January 26, 2018
Rather expected game in Kopavogur where 5th ranked Snaefell (9-7) was crushed by third ranked Breidablik (12-4) 113-80 on Friday. The game without a history. Breidablik led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Snaefell's 48. They outrebounded Snaefell 53-27 including a 18-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Breidablik looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 20 passes made by Snaefell's players. The best player for the winners was American guard Jeremy Smith (190, college: Nicholls St.) who scored 24 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Erlendur Stefansson (190-95, college: Black Hills St.) chipped in 28 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Christian Covile (193-93, college: Adrian) who recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Viktor Alexandersson (180-97) added 20 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Breidablik moved-up to second place, which they share with Hamar and Vestri. Snaefell lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with seven games lost. Breidablik will meet at home Gnupverjar (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Snaefell will play against the league's second-placed Vestri and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the Dominos League just one year after relegation.
