Regular Season Round 11: Kvarner 2010 - Universitas 99-86

The game between third ranked Universitas (7-4) and sixth ranked Kvarner (6-5) was the most important one in the last round on Friday night. Universitas were defeated by Kvarner in Rijeka 99-86. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Universitas. The game was mostly controlled by Kvarner. Universitas managed to win third quarter 28-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Kvarner won last quarter 26-14. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Universitas' players. 25 personal fouls committed by Universitas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for power forward Mate Vucic (203-97) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Swingman Ivan Kucan (192-96) helped adding 26 points and 5 rebounds. Four Kvarner players scored in double figures. Kvarner's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Bruno Rebic (186-99) responded with 31 points and 5 rebounds and forward Gabriel Maric (203-99) scored 19 points. Kvarner maintains sixth place with 6-5 record. Newly promoted Universitas dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Rudes. Kvarner are looking forward to face Sanac (#8) in Karlovac in the next round. Universitas will play on the road against Istrauni (#7) in Pula and are hoping to win this game.
