Regular Season Round 13: Roche - Nantes 79-54
Date: January 27, 2018
Bottom-ranked Roche managed to get the second consecutive victory. This time newly promoted Roche outleveled ninth-ranked Nantes Reze in La Roche 79-54. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 25-point difference suggests that Roche is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Nantes Reze's 24. Roche had a 39-26 advantage in offensive rebounds. Nantes Reze was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Croatian center Iva Cuzic-Sliskovic (190-84, college: S.Carolina) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Caroline Heriaud (165-96) contributed with 7 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Roche's coach Emmanuel Body felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Canadian power forward Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe (188-91, college: Simon Fraser) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and naturalized Serbian Lidija Turcinovic (184-94) added 10 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Nantes Reze. Roche (3-10) moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Nice. Nantes Reze at the other side dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. They share it with Hainaut. Roche will play against higher ranked Basket Landes (#4) in Mont de Marsan in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nantes Reze will play at home against Lyon (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
