Very predictable result when second ranked Atenas (11-4) won against bottom-ranked Quilmes MP (3-10) in Cordoba 101-89 on Saturday. Atenas shot 63.3 percent from the field and made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Atenas outrebounded Quilmes MP 38-13 including a 29-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Atenas especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American power forward Roquez Johnson (201-92, college: Mississippi St.) notched a double-double by scoring 32 points and 11 rebounds (on 15-of-18 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and the other American import center Jerome Meyinsse (207-88, college: Virginia, agency: Dutt Sports Services) supported him with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Even 22 points by Enzo Ruiz (193-88) did not help to save the game for Quilmes MP. Point guard Nicolas Ferreyra (185-85) added 15 points and 8 assists for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Atenas maintains second position with 11-4 record behind leader San Lorenzo. Quilmes MP lost eighth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom place with ten games lost. They share the position with Comunicaciones. Atenas' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Cordoba Instituto.
