Regular Season Round 16: Toyoda Gosei - Tokyo HT 87-80

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Tokyo HT (16-4) in Aichi on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by third ranked Toyoda Gosei (13-7) 87-80. Toyoda Gosei looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Patrick Simon (203-92, college: Seattle Pacific) who helped to win the game recording 32 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Eiji Sumihiro (171-89) contributed with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. American power forward Alex Jones (206-87, college: Seattle) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and his fellow American import forward Brennan McElroy (201-91, college: Indianapolis) added 13 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Tokyo HT. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Tokyo HT's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Toyoda Gosei have an impressive six-game winning streak. Despite that victory Toyoda Gosei went down to fourth position due to points difference. Tokyo HT at the other side still keeps top place with four games lost. Toyoda Gosei are looking forward to face Kagoshima (#6) in Renova in the next round. Tokyo HT will play on the road against Aisin AW (#7) in Aichi and is hoping to win this game.
